Elections Committee Questions:

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing the AARC, and what do you recommend to address it?

The largest challenges I see facing the AARC might be, membership recruitment and retention. With a larger membership base, I see the AARC having a larger involved representation on legislative issue facing the profession nationwide. I believe with all the changes in healthcare happening, there is no better time than now to grow and support the profession, but it takes everyone to get involved and own a share of all of our future.

Healthcare is changing more rapidly than ever. What ideas do you have to help today’s respiratory therapist meet these changes?

I think every leader should be able to speak to changes that are happening in the profession. In order for that to happen every leader should have the resources to obtain that knowledge. Leaders, I feel, need more education and incentive to be involved and to get others to be involved but for that to happen they need to feel what they are getting is of value to them and their respected departments.

If given the opportunity to represent your section, what would you do to increase section membership and promote engagement?

I would like to work collaboratively with other leaders and stake holders as well as the leadership community as a whole to increase awareness and show the value of the section to other leaders. I believe working with the Emerging Leaders Program of the AARC to grow the section and provide an avenue in both directions to improve each program.
