Breathing Life into the Patient Encounter: Creating a Meaningful, Evidence Based Patient Experience

About This Course

The province of the patient experience incorporates a wide range of interactions patients encounter within their journey through the healthcare system and is increasingly recognized as an essential element of care quality and clinical outcome.

The patient experience includes aspects of healthcare delivery that are the responsibility of the respiratory care professional. A fundamental understanding of patient experience is an essential element of patient-centered care. A nuanced comprehension of the experience we create as clinicians is a necessary element in the evaluation and shaping of a shared healthcare experience that shapes meaning and builds a trusted partnership with our patients and their families. There is a growing body of evidence that a clearer understanding of the patient experience will enhance outcomes for both patients and clinicians.

This discussion will highlight the current evidence supporting critical behaviors, actions, and tools that we can employ in our patient encounters to build trust and enhance the patient experience.

Successful completion of this course requires a score of 70% on the post-test.
