Advancing COPD Pathophysiology and Diagnosis

This educational activity identified a critical need for ongoing education and training in COPD care for respiratory therapists. By addressing these knowledge gaps and educational needs, we can equip respiratory therapists with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide high-quality care to patients with COPD and improve their overall outcomes.

Participants will be able to describe the key genetic factors and environmental influences involved in COPD development

Participants will be able to explain the role of epigenetics and microbiome in COPD pathogenesis

Participants will be able to identify the common comorbidities associated with COPD and their impact on disease severity

Participants will be able to select appropriate diagnostic tests for COPD, based on patient symptoms and clinical presentation

Participants will be able to interpret lung function test results to assess the severity of COPD
