The American Association for Respiratory Care is a strong advocate for respiratory therapists, the respiratory care profession, and patients who suffer from chronic respiratory disease.
Currently, the AARC seeks co-sponsorship of S 1406 or HR 2902, the Supplemental Oxygen Access Reform (SOAR) Act. The SOAR Act will help to ensure Medicare patients can access the oxygen therapy they need. In fact, more than 1.5 million Americans depend on supplemental oxygen to live independently and safely. Unfortunately, the current Medicare oxygen payment system is outdated and has created serious barriers to access. As a result, some patients become homebound or end up in the hospital unnecessarily.
