Briefly describe a patient or experience. 

“I recently cared for a patient with severe COPD who required high-flow oxygen after discharge.”

Explain the obstacle. 

“Because liquid oxygen was unavailable, the patient struggled to remain active and was readmitted to the hospital.”

Describe how respiratory therapy made a difference. 

“Our team provided education, oxygen assessment, and follow-up that improved adherence and helped prevent future complications.” 

Connect the experience to legislation. 

“The SOAR Act would help ensure patients like this have access to medically appropriate oxygen and respiratory therapist support.” 

Remember: Protect patient privacy. Do not disclose identifying information. 

Always end with a clear request. 

Examples: 

“Will the Congressman consider co-sponsoring the SOAR Act?” 

“Would your office be willing to meet with AARC again as these bills move forward?”
