AARC Committees support the work set forth in the strategic plan. All charges and objectives for each committee are rooted in the plan or are directed by the bylaws of the association.
Committee members are selected by the President and ratified by the Board of Directors unless otherwise specified by the Bylaws of the association.
The AARC President serves as an ex-officio member of all committees except the elections committee.
Summary of Committees
- Bylaws Committee
The Bylaws Committee reviews amendments proposed by the Board of Directors, House of Delegates, or Chartered Affiliates and submits their recommendations to the proponent. They also report which state’s Bylaws have been accepted or rejected by the Board of Directors and ensure the state bylaws review schedule. - Elections Committee
The Elections Committee screens candidates nominated for director, officer, and section positions. They are also responsible for preparing, distributing, receiving, and verifying all ballots before the Annual Business Meeting and according to the Bylaws. - Executive Committee
The Executive Committee acts for the Board of Directors between meetings of the Board on all relevant matters, as necessary. They approve membership surveys by appropriate methods, meet monthly to discuss the organization’s business between BOD meetings, and assist with strategic planning. - Finance Committee
The Finance Committee submits for approval the annual budget to the House of Delegates (HOD) and the Board of Directors (BOD). In conjunction with the Executive Office, they identify a financial expert to be appointed by the President and ratified by the BOD in time for the yearly audit process. - Audit Subcommittee
The Audit Subcommittee monitors the financial affairs of the association in cooperation with external independent auditors. - Judicial Committee
The Judicial Committee reviews membership challenges, or complaints against any member charged with any violation of the Association’s Articles of Incorporation, bylaws, standing rules, code of ethics, or other rules, regulations, policies, or procedures adopted, or any conduct deemed detrimental to the Association. - Program Committee
The Program Committee prepares the annual International Congress and Summer Forum, including content that is aligned with Strategic Goals. - Sputum Bowl Committee
The Sputum Bowl Committee organizes and completes the annual Sputum Bowl event at Congress. - Strategic Planning Committee
The Strategic Planning Committee reviews the Strategic Plan, track and report progress, and make recommendations to the Board for revisions or adjustments, as appropriate. - AARC Fellowship Committee
The AARC Fellowship Committee reviews applications of nominees for AARC Fellow Recognition (FAARC). They also select individuals who will receive the AARC Fellow recognition prior to the International Respiratory Care Congress. - Vision Grant Committee
The Vision Grant Committee manages the Vision Grant application process. - Advocacy and Government Affairs Committee
The Advocacy and Government Affairs Committee works to increase engagement of state & federal affiliate efforts, and support the PACT event in Washington, DC. - International Committee
The International Committee coordinates the International Fellowship Program, to include reviewing and selecting host cities and applications. - Membership Innovation Committee
The Membership Innovation Committee discusses products, benefits, and ways to engage members and enhance retention. - Position Statement and Issue Papers Committee
The Position Statement and Issue Papers Committee maintains and updates all position statements and issue papers to meet Policy CT.008 requirements. - IDEAA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access & Accountability) Committee
The IDEAA committee contributes to content development for ongoing DEI training and development. - Workforce Recovery Taskforce
AARC will serve as a convener to address the workforce shortage in respiratory care. The Workforce Recovery Taskforce advises on the creation of marketing materials and related training to assist schools and educators with student enrollment. - Compact Licensure Taskforce
As directed by the strategic plan, the Compact Licensure Taskforce explores the interest and feasibility of pursuing compact licensure for respiratory therapists. - Advanced Practice Respiratory Therapist Advancement Committee
As directed by the strategic plan, the committee will address institutional privileges, pay equity, licensing, and credentialing. As directed by the strategic plan, the APRT Taskforce will address institutional privileges, pay equity, licensing, and credentialing. - Policy Review Committee
The Policy Review committee reviews and updates AARC policies and procedures for ratification by AARC BOD. - Apex Award Committee
The Apex Award Committee manages the Apex Award, receiving and reviewing nominations - RT Led Research Advancement Committee
The RT Led Research Advancement Committee will assess and work to reduce or eliminate barriers to RT led research initiatives and publication. - SESG Taskforce
The SESG Taskforce establishes the AARC Safe and Effective Staffing Guide (The Guide) as the standard to accurately determine clinical RT staffing needs to meet patient demand. - Legends and Legacy Committee
The Legends and Legacy Committee oversees the selection of the Legends of Respiratory Care and supports the AARC virtual museum. - AARC Military Member Taskforce
The Military member task force gathers information and makes recommendations for initiatives and programs that add value to AARC membership for our active-duty military, veteran, and reservists’ members. - NextGen RT Taskforce
This task force will work to increase engagement of students and recent graduates, providing support and programs to enhance their connection with the AARC.
