The following steps will help make the 2026 Washington D.C. Respiratory Care Fly-in, June 1- 2 a success for everyone involved:
- Confirm attendance with state society representatives
- Complete 2026 Travel Form by April 24
- Confirm flight and hotel reservations by May 1 (hotel confirmations will be sent to you by Marriott, please be sure to check your junk mail and if you do not receive a confirmation please email Maricarmen Martinez at maricarmen.martinez@aarc.org)
- Prepare for meetings – read resource and background materials, and prepare with sample talking points
- Schedule legislative meetings
- Submit your meetings schedule
- Review preparing for Washington Fly-in Video (link coming soon)
- Attend orientation meeting on June 1
- Speak with legislators on June 2
- Take pictures with provided signs when possible, email to AARC at marketing@aarc.org and share on social media with hashtag #2026AARCFly-in. Sample posts can be found in the Fly-In Social Media Toolkit.
- Attend evening debrief following legislative meetings on June 2
- Submit details on who you met with and what follow-up is needed by June 15
- Submit any expenses to state affiliate or AARC as required by June 30
- Talk to others about your experience and how to continue RT advocacy discussions
