Mechanical Ventilation: Decoding Discordance between the Patient and the Machine
Danielle Hardy, RRT, RRT-ACCS
Eric Kriner, RRT
Eduardo Mireles-Cabodevila, MD
Thomas Piraino, RRT, FCSRT, FAARC
This presentation and small group work will apply the principles of Ohm’s Law and Natural Decay. This interactive workshop designed specifically for those seeking to elevate their expertise and appreciation of the complex dynamics of patient-ventilator interaction, while challenging the new-to-practice respiratory therapist to develop their comprehension. Participants will enhance their clinical skills through small-group exercises that deepen their understanding of the physiological basis for breath delivery and expiration. Through case-based waveform analysis, the participant will apply knowledge of modes of mechanical ventilation and the parameters that determine breath architecture to develop effective, evidence-based ventilator management strategies to optimize ventilator-patient interaction.
The workshop emphasizes practical and actionable skills respiratory therapists can apply at the bedside to develop rapid recognition and effective management strategies to improve patient comfort and optimize mechanical ventilation strategies.

AARC Master Class is approved for 3.42 CRCE.
