Maybe it’s the networking. Maybe it’s the 20+ CRCE credits. Maybe it’s the great educational sessions. Why are you going to AARC Congress 2019?
We checked in with two AARC early professional members to learn what they’re looking forward to for AARC Congress 2019.
Making connections

Going on his second Congress meeting, William Tarver, RRT, an army staff sergeant working in the 47th Combat Support Hospital, looks forward to the networking opportunities. His first Congress experience took place in 2016 when he was still a student.
“I am attending the AARC Congress to network with fellow RTs, learn as much as I can to bring back to my unit, and represent the Army RTs on a national scale as dedicated respiratory care practitioners,” Tarver said.
Tarver feels that attending events like AARC Congress 2019 early in your career gives RTs the chance to enhance their understanding of the profession.
“I feel like the early exposure to these events gets you in on the ground floor where you may not understand everything you see or what’s going on, but you can definitely appreciate it all,” Tarver said. “This in turn—in my opinion—allows you to value it more as you grow in this career field and your knowledge expands.”
Strengthening your career foundation

Leah Kuhn, BS, RRT, RRT-NPS, shares similar sentiment and enthusiasm for AARC Congress 2019.
“I’m excited to say this will be my first Congress I’m attending,” Kuhn said. “I decided to go to the AARC Congress for the education and to learn the advancements in our field.”
She also looks forward to the opportunity to meet professionals in the field and to learn what’s being done to advance respiratory in the medical field.
Kuhn feels it’s important for RTs early in their career to be able to learn the processes of networking and create relationships that will span their careers.
“It helps open opportunities and serves to provide education for all,” Kuhn said. “Congress helps us keep current with skill practice and allows us to take this information back to our own department and be able to apply it to adapt and update policies for best practices.”
