In this episode of Big Ideas Theater, Sharman Lamka, president and founder of the FACES Foundation, discusses the National Patient Advocacy Award program.

Lamka explains that the award is made possible through a collaborative effort between the FACES Foundation and the AARC as a way to uniquely recognize respiratory therapists.

“It’s honoring RTs that go the extra mile,” Lamka said. “That see not just the patient, but see the person inside the patient.”

Presented at the Respiratory Patient Advocacy Summit, 2017 was the first year the award was presented. Nominations came in from across the county, from anywhere RTs work.

Big Ideas Theater 2017 was filmed at the AARC Congress 2017 in Indianapolis, IN. Congress speakers and lecturers shared their expertise and insights during these brief interviews.
