Delivers all facets of Respiratory Care according to department Policy and Procedure manual. Position Expectations & Responsibilities: Learn computer program related to the type of work in the department, including HBOC, STAR, and MISYS. Initiate respiratory care treatment upon the order of a physician throughout the hospital. Monitor ventilator dependent patients according to department policy and procedure. Complete all requirements in the Blood Gas Lab in compliance with College of American Pathology Standards. Expected to draw arterial blood gas. Discontinue all unnecessary and non-therapeutic therapy. Respond to emergencies and be able to prioritize workload assignment. Recognize the influence of beliefs and cultures on behaviors and accept strengths and limitations in others. Exhibit adaptability, flexibility, self-control and maturity in work and behavior. Demonstrate calm responsiveness to emergency or stressful situations. Recognize situations which require notification of a supervisor. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Communicate with physicians, nurses, and other employees throughout the hospital.
Minimum Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy Licensure/Regulation/Certification: State of Florida License as a Respiratory Therapist BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association PALS preferred Newborn Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred; mandatory if working in NICU.
