Respiratory Care Manager-Adult Services – UCSF Health

Job Summary
Manages respiratory care supervisors and / or staff to achieve patient treatment objectives. Monitors patient diagnostic evaluations, progress and treatment plans to ensure quality clinical services. Independently resolves compliance issues within the latitude of Respiratory function guidelines and policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of California
  • Knowledge of chronic respiratory diseases and applied background in a functional area of clinical respiratory care.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge in an acute care setting to improve program operations.
  • Knowledge of medical center, HR and UC policies and processes, relevant cardiopulmonary industry federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Ability to apply policy knowledge to suggest improvements to patient care compliance risks and regulatory issues. Working knowledge of human resources management practices and policies.
  • Leadership skills to motivate, coach and resolve conflict. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a complex, challenging environment.
  • Ability to organize department operations in an efficient and effective manner while maintaining clinical standards and compliance.
  • Suggests improvements to processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Ability to collaborate within and across departments to coordinate daily program activities and resolve problems. Interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with peers, patients, physicians, nurses, multidisciplinary team members, senior management, and assigned staff.
  • Analytical abilities and problem solving skills to evaluate complex issues and identify options for resolution.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate through all mediums and with all groups. Advanced user of clinical information systems.
  • Knowledge of available information technology software in the field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clinical specialty certification preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred


  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of California
  • BLS
