Faculty Program Director, Respiratory Care Program – Ursuline College

Ursuline College is developing a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care completion program and is seeking a team-oriented, motivated, and innovative leader as the founding program director to lead the development and implementation of the Bachelor of Science Degree in Respiratory Care, and potential advanced degrees. This position will chair the newly-created department. This is a twelve-month, full-time position with rank and tenure or non-tenure track depending on qualifications.  The position reports to the Dean of the Breen School of Nursing and Health Professions.

The founding program director should possess strong leadership skills and lead by collaboration, inclusion, and engagement of faculty, staff, and students. The individual should have a commitment to emphasizing patient-centered care, fostering interprofessional education, and promoting the mission and goals of the department and college.  Candidates with demonstrated commitment to working with underrepresented minorities through teaching, mentoring, and research are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Director of the Respiratory Care Program provides academic leadership for the Respiratory Care Program and consults with the Dean of the Breen School of Nursing and Health Professions for the smooth functioning of all programs to meet student educational needs.  The program is an Associate of Applied Sciences (AAS) to Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care (BSRC).  The position is appointed to a full-time, faculty position on a 12-month contract, reporting to the Dean of the Breen School of Nursing.  Position to begin September 1, 2022.


  • Teach assigned courses and assist classroom instructors with the management of the assigned courses and the follow through with student issues and related concerns, including advising all AAS to BSRC students as assigned.
  • Coordinate and deliver orientation of the AAS TO BSRC program to all newly admitted students either face-to-face or via distance technology.
  • Determine course and faculty needs and coordinate those needs and resources with the Dean.
  • Collaborate with the Dean to plan, develop, coordinate, evaluate, and revise courses as necessary and in fulfillment of regularly established timeframes for curriculum assessment, evaluation and review.
  • Monitor and maintain records of student admission, progression, withdrawals, and failures. Submits reports on a timely basis to the Dean.
  • Collaborate with admissions regarding the acceptance of new students, student progression, and program data collection.
  • Submit an annual report to the Dean, at the end of each academic year (by June 1) following CQI requirements.
  • Other administrative duties include: Supervise assigned faculty; participate in marketing events, website development and recruitment activities for the program; prepare operating budget and oversee the administration of program funds as appropriate; manage the daily operations of the program; prepare accreditation reports and manage accreditation visits; serve on college committees.


Minimum qualifications include:

  1. Master’s Degree
  2. Current RRT credential
  3. Current and unencumbered Ohio resp care license
  4. A minimum 4 years’ experience as RRT
  5. A minimum 2 years’ experience in resp care management, research, teaching, clinical education
