  • IU Health North Hospital, located in Carmel, IN, is a full-service 189 bed hospital for adults and children that continues to provide leading family-centered care to Carmel and Hamilton County residents since 2005. All patient rooms are private to optimize comfort for each individual and their family, and our wealth of services for adults and children ranges from cardiovascular, surgical and orthopedic care to maternity, neonatal, pediatric care, along with an attached medical office building.   The IU Health Joe & Shelly Schwarz Cancer Center brings cancer services together under one roof including radiation oncology and hematology-oncology to surround patients and their loved ones with the care and support they need.  We are proud to also offer the peace of mind that comes with the service and support of Riley Hospital for Children’s nationally-recognized programs, including a Level III NICU and a pediatric ICU.
  • IU Health West Hospital, located in Avon, IN, is a full-service 175 bed hospital for adults and children that continues to provide leading family-centered care in the heart of one of the fastest growing communities in Indiana since 2004. In 2019, West Hospital began an $83 million expansion that added three floors to two of its towers resulting in an additional 48 beds.   All patient rooms are private to optimize comfort for each individual and their family, and our wealth of services includes intensive and progressive care units, medical-surgical units, maternity services and a special care nursery, technologically advanced surgical services, cardiac catherization labs serving interventional radiology cardiology and interventional radiology and 24/7 STEMI, on-site diagnostics, cancer services including on-site radiology oncology, women’s diagnostic services, a 24/7 emergency department with an observation unit serving adults and children, and an attached medical office building.

  • IU Health Tipton Hospital, located in Tipton, IN, has provided patient-centered care to residents of Tipton County and surrounding communities for more than 65 years. It is an acute care hospital offering personalized care and wide range of medical specialties and services including 25 private patient rooms, including ICU and PCU rooms, diagnostic services, women’s services, four surgical suites and a 24/7 emergency department serving adults and children.   IU Health Tipton Hospital is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and is also a member of the American Hospital Association, the Indiana Hospital Association and the Indiana Rural Health Care Association.

Our Respiratory Therapy teams offer a full-service approach providing services to all age ranges.   Our respiratory therapist services can be seen in all areas of both facilities and includes: the emergency department, medical surgical units, ICU, acuity adaptable unit (at West), and labor & delivery with level II special care nurseries.   Our respiratory therapists work closely with nurses and physicians as an important part of the patient care team.    We have an extensive respiratory assessment and protocol program that gives our therapists the ability to provide the best individualized care for our patients.   Our therapists are trained to perform intubations on all age ranges, arterial line insertions, and assist with bedside bronchoscopies.  We offer an Advanced Respiratory Therapist program that recognizes staff members for their extended contribution to the mission, vision, and values of the West Respiratory Care Department.   They are encouraged to participate in committees, process improvement projects, presenting in-services, acting as a resource and preceptor, and leadership.

Our Respiratory Therapists (RTs) works closely with our patients to evaluate and treat patients with cardiopulmonary disorders ranging in modalities and demographics. We are also responsible for collaborating with various different entities in the hospital setting including nurses, Advanced Respiratory Therapists, and Clinical Specialists to ensure total customer happiness and support.  Outside of working with groundbreaking technologies and therapies, our RTs receive the opportunity to grow their medical knowledge and skills. They do this by working closely with patients and team members to build personalized therapies. We have full-time, part-time and PRN opportunities with various shifts available! 


  • Requires current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the state of Indiana.
  • Requires graduation from a CoARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) and regionally accredited respiratory care program.
  • Requires that the N.B.R.C. (National Board for Respiratory Care) registry exam be passed within 13 months of hire date. The 13-month requirement for the RRT is void if hire date is one year past graduation date.
  • Requires Healthcare Provider Certification. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Preferred ACLS; PALS; and/or NRP certification.
  • Requires strong customer service skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, the ability to deal with confidential patient information, basic computer skills and the ability to work with EMR.
