Respiratory Therapist – Marshfield Medical Center – Ladysmith

Marshfield Medical Center – Ladysmith provides the residents and visitors of Rusk County and surrounding communities with outstanding healthcare and a friendly, close-to-home atmosphere. As the only hospital within a 45-mile radius, Marshfield Medical Center-Ladysmith offers a variety of medical services to care for a population of approximately 18,000 people. Our Clinic at Riverside is a Provider-Based Rural Health Clinic that provides primary, family care to meet the needs of the communities we serve. We offer medical/surgical care, intensive care, comprehensive surgical services, emergency care, urgent care and our Swing Bed Program for transitional care.

The Respiratory Therapist supports the Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) in delivering inpatient and outpatient respiratory therapy services to patients from neonatal to geriatric, under the direction of physicians and administration. In this role, the individual is accountable to deliver established goals, utilizes good judgment to assess and escalate situations when warranted and utilizes knowledge and skills in the area of expertise while maintaining expected quality standards. The individual must act as a healthcare leader by building constructive relationships and by supporting department leadership in developing, setting and executing department goals and the strategic plan in accordance with Marshfield Clinic Health System’s mission statement.


  • Associate Degree, Diploma, or Certification in a Respiratory Therapy Program
  • Experience working with mechanical ventilation of patients from neonatal to geriatric
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner license awarded by the State of Wisconsin AND  Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care, and maintain the active credential per NBRC Guideline’s
  • If Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential is not current at time of hire, it must be obtained within two years of hire or by 7/1/2022 if hired prior to 6/30/2019
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire
  • For positions treating patients in intensive care units (ICU): Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications awarded by the American Heart Association within one year of hire

Preferred / Optional:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire
  • Certified Pulmonary Function Technician (CPFT) and Registered Pulmonary Function Technician (RPFT) awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care at time of hire
