DMC Adult Central Campus is seeking a Director who is expected to supervise and direct the personnel, operational and financial activities of the Detroit Receiving and Harper University/Hutzel Hospital Respiratory/Pulmonary Departments. In this role, he/she will also
Identify the need for policy development and/or revision and will define policies in collaboration with higher level management input, goals and objectives.
Participate in the development and/or revision of department procedures/protocols within Respiratory/Pulmonary Services.
Develop, monitor and revise Respiratory Care processes by providing input into the development and revision of organizational structure of Respiratory/Pulmonary Services.
Approve personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc. and ensure the timely completion of performance appraisals.
Develop current to intermediate goals and measures for Respiratory/Pulmonary Services as appropriate.
Monitor activities for and ensure compliance with laws, government regulations, Joint Commission requirements and DMC policies.
As directed, implement external and internal audit recommendations and ensure hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
Bachelor of Science degree in a related technical or administrative discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three years of progressively more responsible experience in healthcare management. Management experience in Respiratory Care strongly preferred.
Two years of Respiratory Care experience.
Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care with licensure to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan.
BLS certification required.
