In response to recent vacancies and identified gaps in staffing, the AARC leadership team restructured the organization. This realignment in staff roles sets the AARC up to increase effectiveness and efficiency in meeting our member’s needs.
Included in this effort, Doug Laher, MBA, CAE, CMP, RRT, FAARC, the lead respiratory therapist on staff, has been promoted to Chief Operations Officer (COO). He will now work with most every department in the organization, leading and guiding with the RT mindset.
Anne Marie Hummel’s title has changed to Senior Vice President of Government Affairs; however, her role has not. She will continue to report to the Executive Director and lead AARC advocacy efforts to help strengthen the profession as well as promote the value of RTs and their patients.
This revamp in staff roles and organizational structure not only takes on a more modern look, but it is also more comparable to other organizations. The AARC’s new structure will better divide and balance work systems, all while increasing collaboration and focus.
It is the goal of the AARC to continue having respiratory therapists in leadership roles.
