Social media is a great way to strengthen public awareness about issues that are important to advancing respiratory care and the profession.
Direct Supervision of Cardiac (CR) and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR) Services
Join the AARC in spreading the word about the need to expand access to pulmonary rehabilitation services and to the expertise of RTs by expediting access to include physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and clinical nurse specialists to provide direct supervision, prescribe exercise, administer the programs, and sign treatment plans. Currently, only physicians can provide these services. Ask Congress to cosponsor the Improving Access to Quality Cardiac Rehabilitation Act (H.R. 1956/S. 1986). Let your voice be heard!

Moving up the date to add nonphysicians to provide direct supervision in cardiac and pulmonary rehab programs can increase patient access in areas where there are physician shortages. Ask Congress to co-sponsor the “Increasing Access to Quality Cardiac Rehabilitation Act” (H.R. 1956/S. 1986)! https://p2a.co/emuAZaq #pulmrehab #patientsneedPR #aarclobby

Virtual CR and PR Services in the Home
Join the AARC in asking Congress to make permanent virtual cardiac (CR) and pulmonary rehab (PR) services furnished in an individual’s home. Let your voice be heard! Current temporary waivers granted during the public health emergency (PHE), allow CR and PR services to be furnished to beneficiaries in their homes as Medicare telehealth services by physicians or practitioners and through the CMS Hospital Without Walls (HWW) initiative by a hospital outpatient department. Respiratory therapists can also provide telehealth services in which an eligible practitioner bills Medicare under the “incident to” benefit in the physician office. Without further authority from Congress, those flexibilities will cease at the end of the PHE. We want Congress to make these temporary waivers permanent.
