Dr. Pamela Riddle Bird, widow of the late Dr. Forrest Bird, died in a tragic plane crash Thursday morning a short distance from their home in Idaho.
“We are saddened to learn of Dr. Pam Bird’s death,” said Frank Salvatore, AARC president. “Mrs. Bird had grown to be a great friend of the AARC’s, just as her husband was.”
Dr. Bird was founder and CEO of Innovative Product Technologies, a company that would help inventors bring their ideas into the commercial marketplace.
Along with her husband, Forrest, she founded the Bird Aviation Museum and Invention Center. She authored books on inventing and met her husband through the invention community. Dr. Forrest Bird was inducted into the National Inventor’s Hall of Fame for his respirator development.
“Pam was an accomplished individual,” said Tom Kallstrom, AARC Executive Director. Dr. Pamela Bird was also a licensed pilot with interests in aviation, horseback riding, snow skiing, gardening and boating. An article in their local paper detailed the accident.
