Clustering of Ancillary Services

The field of respiratory care is a dynamic discipline with skills common to several other allied health professions. Since respiratory therapists work under appropriate medical direction and possess skills encompassing patient care and the management of technical services, respiratory therapists are well suited to maintain independent ancillary services in hospitals. Therefore, in such institutions where it may be appropriate, the AARC supports the clustering of appropriate services under the direction of respiratory care where there exists competency to perform such services adequately and safely under medical direction.
