What is AARC Capitol Connection? It helps get messages directly to Congress in support of AARC’s yearly legislative agenda. Our primary goal at the beginning of 2017 was to make sure respiratory therapists are included as telehealth providers in any telehealth legislation introduced this year. We had a very successful Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill on April 4 and continue to follow-up with Congressional leaders.
We now have three telehealth bills introduced in the 115th Congress that include respiratory care as a telehealth service and respiratory therapists among the health care professionals covered to provide telehealth and/or remote patient monitoring services under Medicare.
The AARC is asking for co-sponsorship of these bills in the House in order to increase the changes of advancing the bills through the legislative process. You can email or mail a letter to your House of Representative members from the comfort of home, work or wherever you might be. All you need is a computer. Just go to AARC Capitol Connection to read more about the bills. Depending on “who you are” — RT, physician, student, patient — you can choose a model letter to send to your House members. There’s no need to spend time figuring out who they are or what their email or mail address might be. AARC Capitol Connection does it all for you when you enter the address where you vote.
