Submit an Abstract; Share With Your Peers
There's still time to submit a research abstract for the upcoming International Respiratory Congress. The deadline is June 1, 2007. Learn more about the Open Forum and how you can share the results of your work with your peers.

Then Learn from that Research at AARC Congress 2007
The abstracts submitted for the Open Forum are one of the centerpiece offerings at the 2007 Congress. Sessions are offered daily over the 4 days of the meeting, with similarly focused abstracts combined into separate symposiums where interactive discussion will be encouraged. Posters expand the information being presented. Topics range from management, asthma, COPD, ventilation, bench studies, rehabilitation, smoking cessation, home care, sleep apnea, education, neonatal/pediatrics, and more.

AARC Garners Support from RT Congressman
David Davis of Tennessee, a respiratory therapist and home care company owner, was just elected to the U.S. Congress last November but he's already supporting AARC efforts by keynoting our PACT meeting, cosponsoring HR 552 (the pulmonary rehabilitation legislation), and supporting the Medicare Respiratory Therapy Initiative .   We are gratified that a member of Congress is a respiratory therapist and that we now have someone on the Hill who understands the profession. The AARC invites you to learn more about Davis through his official Capitol Hill site and his  campaign site .

New Resource Delivers Free CRCEs
AARC members can earn four FREE CRCE credits for reading a new online booklet on aerosol devices and taking a post-test. Written by leading RT researchers Dean Hess, Timothy Myers, and Joe Rau, the resource covers the latest information on aerosol drug delivery and how respiratory therapists can become the experts in matching medications to devices. The booklet was produced for the AARC with support from Respironics.

Wall Street Journal Article Features AARC
Readers of the Wall Street Journal learned more about the AARC's involvement in the COPD Foundation's new Mobile Spirometry Unit program on May 2. The story even featured a great photo of the MSU that was taken in front of AARC headquarters earlier this year.

AARC Sends Rep to HPN Meeting
Workforce issues were the main topic of discussion at the recent Health Professions Network (HPN) meeting, and the AARC's director of education and management services was on hand to represent the Association. According to Bill Dubbs, the group heard presentations on unique workforce initiatives around the country and also delved into issues surrounding the growing trend among the professions to require higher academic degrees for entry-level practice.
