Grants Amnesty Period for RRT Eligibility
The NBRC has just granted an amnesty period for RRT eligibility
for individuals who graduated from advanced-level respiratory therapy
programs with an associate degree before Jan. 1, 2005. These individuals
now have until Feb. 28, 2009 to earn the RRT credential.
Addendum Addresses NIV in Pandemic Flu
The AARC is responding to member questions regarding the use of noninvasive ventilation (NIV) during a pandemic flu with an addendum to its “Guidelines for Acquisition of Ventilators to Meet Demands for Pandemic Flu and Mass Casualty Incidents.”

Looking to the Future
The first in a series of three conferences aimed at identifying future directions for the profession will take place in Dallas March 3-6. Leaders from across the nation will be gathering for this invitation-only event to define the knowledge, skills and attributes needed by respiratory therapists in the coming years.
