What steps will you take to strengthen international exposure of respiratory care?
Continue to support International Members through the use of multilingual publications. These publications should not only originate from the AARC but should come to the AARC Membership from the International Membership so we can have a better understanding of the needs of our International Members. Continue to support the International Fellowship Program. Assure representation in Federal, State and International Disaster planning and response from the Profession of Respiratory Care.
How would you suggest we recruit and educate the leaders of the future for the AARC?
We must refine and continue to define the process of mentoring volunteers as future leaders of the AARC. Continue to develop and publicize career ladders and opportunities to allow members to use their talents and expertise to advance the Organization. Develop a tool to discover what members have the desire to do within the professional organization and work with these members to develop their ideas. Make use of the Specialty Section Membership to fill Committees that relate to the Specialty Sections. Most of all ask people to do special projects that can be worked on and completed in a given time frame.
With the introduction of the Medicare Respiratory Therapy Initiative Bill in Congress, how are you going to work to get that bill successfully passed?
Communicate with the Membership and Respiratory Care Patient Groups in order to facilitate educating the Legislature that the Respiratory Care Practitioner is the best Professional to educate and treat patients with respiratory problems. Legislative advocacy and public education are the main areas to accomplish the goal of proper care and treatment of our patients.
