What steps will you take to strengthen international exposure of respiratory care?
In order to strengthen our international exposure of respiratory care we must start here in the US. We have to continue to research and publish many different aspects within the field. This should range from neonatal through adult research. We have to come together as a collective group, including physicians and nursing, and drive the technologies toward the best health care we can provide.

How would you suggest we recruit and educate the leaders of the future for the AARC?
In order to recruit and educate the leaders of the future for the AARC we must encourage all RTs to be a minimum of RRT. Than we have to focus on their education to pursue bachelor's and master’s degree levels. We have to, as an organization, understand that many different disciplines out there gain their recognition through their credentials. We should be no different. With our knowledge base and wide arenas of work, we must be well educated.

With the introduction of the Medicare Respiratory Therapy Initiative Bill in Congress, how are you going to work to get that bill successfully passed?
The way to promote this is to get everyone around me to write to legislatures in my state. We need to be very aggressive on this. Each time we are in contact with anyone...we must talk about it. We need to bombard the state representatives to understand the importance of the bill.
