Lenexa Respiratory Therapist Wins National Award

For Immediate Release  

IRVING, TX (January 20, 2005) – Jack Wanger, MS, RRT, RPFT, clinical scientist at PRA International in Lenexa, KS, has won the American Association for Respiratory Care's (AARC) annual Diagnostic Specialty Practitioner of the Year Award. 

Wanger received the award at the recent AARC International Respiratory Congress held in New Orleans , LA.  

The registered respiratory therapist is being honored for his years of service to the specialty of pulmonary diagnostics, which encompasses the testing people receive for lung conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma. 

Prior to joining PRA in 1997, Wanger served as technical director of the pulmonary physiology unit at the National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver , CO , and has published numerous articles in medical journals, along with a book on pulmonary function testing. He also serves as editor-in-chief and project coordinator for a pulmonary function manual published by the American Thoracic Society.  

Respiratory Therapists (RTs) are specially trained and licensed respiratory health care professionals assisting physicians in diagnosis, treatment, and management of respiratory diseases. RTs provide care in hospitals, outpatient centers, physicians' offices, skilled nursing facilities, and patients' homes.  

The American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) is a not-for-profit, professional organization, consisting of 36,000 respiratory therapists, physicians, and other health care professionals. AARC is dedicated to assisting persons with respiratory diseases receive safe and effective respiratory care.
