Local Therapist Honored by National Respiratory Foundation

Dallas, TX (December 17, 2012) — The American Respiratory Care Foundation (ARCF) honored Patricia A. Achuff, MBA, RRT-NPS, with the Philips Respironics Fellowship in Non-Invasive Respiratory Care at a recent award ceremony held in New Orleans at the largest national meeting of respiratory therapists held each year.
Achuff, who hails from Phoenixville, PA is a respiratory therapist employed by The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The Award granted by the ARCF is a fellowship designed to foster projects dealing with non-invasive techniques to provide ventilator support.
Respiratory therapists are specialized health care providers who take care of people with lung conditions ranging from asthma to COPD. They work throughout the acute care hospital on the general wards, in the emergency department, and in the intensive care units, and are also increasingly employed in sleep centers, physician offices, outpatient clinics, pulmonary rehabilitation programs, skilled nursing facilities, and patients’ homes.
RRT-NPS stands for Registered Respiratory Therapist/Neonatal Pediatric Specialist
