September Journal Features 5 Updated CPGs
For Immediate Release
IRVING, Tex. (September 14, 2004) – With the
publication of five updated Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs), the
September issue of Respiratory Care journal is equipping respiratory
care professionals with the tools they need to deliver high quality,
cost effective care.
The newly published CPGs are:

Transcutaneous Blood
Gas Monitoring for Neonatal & Pediatric Patients

Metabolic Measurement
Using Indirect Calorimetry During Mechanical Ventilation

Nasotracheal Suctioning
-
Resuscitation and Defibrillation
in the Health Care Setting

Application of Continuous
Positive Airway Pressure to Neonates Via Nasal Prongs, or Nasopharyngeal
Tube, or Nasal Mask
The updated
CPGs represent the American Association for Respiratory Care’s
(AARC) ongoing commitment to producing state-of-the-art practice guidelines
for the profession of respiratory care. Since the AARC’s CPG
project began in the early 1990s, the Association has produced and
published 53 CPGs since 1991.
The new published guidelines
are available on the Journal’s
website and the website for the federal government’s
National Guideline
Clearinghouse.
RESPIRATORY
CARE is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published
by the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) and listed
in Index Medicus. The AARC is a professional membership organization
of respiratory therapists dedicated to respiratory therapy education
and research. Among its goals are to advocate on behalf of pulmonary
patients for appropriate access to respiratory services provided by
qualified professionals and to benefit respiratory health care providers.
