How do I register for a free course and get to my test?

AARC has several online continuing education courses, available for free or nominal cost, that require you to register. This registration process is important because it is the process that grants you access to the test that you must take in order to earn your credit. All of these courses follow a similar progression of screens as given in this example.

On the Event Registration page, log in if you are an AARC member. Click Sign Up if you are not a member of the AARC to read more about the sign up process:

Assuming you are an AARC member and clicked the Log In link above, continue with these instructions. On the login page, enter your member number and your password then click the “Sign On” button. Unless you have changed it, the password given to you by the AARC is your AARC member number plus your first and last initial:

Now that you are logged in with your member number, click the “check-out” button below the name of the course. Make sure the course is checked:

You are taken to the Check-Out Basket page. To complete the registration process, you must click the “check-out” button. Your basket shows you are paying $0.00 for the course. This is correct because you are registering for a free member benefit. You will not be charged anything, but you are completing a transaction to “write” your registration order to your member record:

Your registration process is complete when you have reached this page called “Purchase Detail.” This is your confirmation that your registration is complete. You will also receive an email with further instructions.

Depending upon what course you are registering for, your email will give you instructions for accessing your course or for proceeding on to the testing area. Your registration has now made it possible for you to access your test at Examination Central. Use your same log in and password in this area:
