Wondering how to channel your creative energy? AARC has
the answer. Enter the our Photo Contest!
Here’s
how it works:
Each month AARC Times editors will look at the photos submitted and we will choose a winner to receive free
dues on renewal. The winner will be automatically
entered into the publication’s Photo-of-the-Year Contest, which
will take place in the November, 2008 issue.
The Photo-of-the-Year winner will see his or her photograph on the cover
of the January, 2009 issue of AARC Times!
What kinds of photos are we looking for? Anything and everything related
to the profession of respiratory care! So start planning your “photo
shoots” right now.
Just follow these simple rules:
- Provide a signed release for any patients or co-workers pictured
in your photos. Photos cannot be published without signed releases. The release should state: “I hereby give the
AARC permission to use my photo (my child’s photo) in AARC publications.” The
photo release form is available in PDF format.
- Photos will not be returned and become the property of the AARC.
- Please submit no more than three photos per monthly contest. Monthly
winners may not submit additional photos for the remainder of the calendar
year in which they won the monthly contest.
- Any photographic prints of good quality are acceptable. Please
read the requirements we have provided below so that you are sending
your photo in a format
that can be used and reproduced in a magazine.
IMPORTANT:
Photo Requirements Please
read the following information. Adhering to these requirements
will assure that your photograph will be acceptable for publication.
A good
photograph in the wrong format may render it unsuitable
for reproduction.
- The photo needs to be in a vertical format to match the shape
of a magazine. Turning your
camera sideways will create a photo in vertical format.
- If
your photo is taken with a
standard film camera, we will need a color print
shipped to us at Photo Contest, AARC, 9425 N.
MacArthur Blvd., Suite 100, Irving, TX 75063-4706.
- Most
digital cameras give you a choice of settings for image resolution.
Photos taken at lower resolution settings take up
less room
on your memory card but will not result in the best prints.
Set your
camera for the highest resolution photo and
save it as RAW or TIFF.
JPEG is also acceptable.
- We
prefer that you send a CD of your photo since they will probably
be
too large to e-mail. If you do try to e-mail them, please
send them
directly to our production manager, Donna Knauf, at knauf@aarc.org and
indicate clearly in your e-mail that the photos are for
the
Photo Contest.
