The debut of “Ask Dr. Tom” will coincide
with the celebration of Respiratory Care Week, beginning Oct. 25. In

YourLungHealth.org is a website developed by the American
Association for Respiratory Care to serve as a repository for information
on lung conditions. Thomas Petty, MD a foremost expert on lung health,
will be available to answer questions in a new feature on that website
called “Ask Dr. Tom.”
You can submit questions online, which may then be
answered through regular postings on the website. You will be submitting
your questions directly to world-renown physician Tom Petty, MD, FAARC,
founder of the National Lung Health Education Program. Dr. Petty has
been a pioneer in the area of home oxygen therapy, devoting his career
to helping patients who have emphysema and other forms of Chronic Obstructive
Pulmonary Disease.
Asthma, chronic bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, allergies,
sleep disordered breathing, Alpha 1, and other lung problems are among
the conditions for which information is available and will be addressed
on "Ask Dr. Tom."
“Patients have a growing need to learn more about
the importance of maintaining lung health and preventing and treating
both acute and common respiratory disorders,” said Dr. Petty. He
hopes to create an active dialog, answering questions in a short and
clear manner on all forms of lung disease.
All the questions and answers will be placed in an archive,
so newcomers to the site can scroll through previously asked and answered
questions to see if their problem has already been addressed.
