COPD Awareness Month

Logo From a U.S. Presidential Message to a RESPIRATORY CARE Editor in Chief Call to Arms, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is being recognized this November.

Last year, AARC Executive Director Sam Giordano called COPD the "Rodney Dangerfield" of diseases saying that the disease "gets no respect." This year the tide is turning, and more and more people are learning about the effects of this epidemic lung disease.

So far, more than half the states have declared November as COPD Awareness Month and the AARC has worked to provide you with all the resources you need to provide COPD screenings, including an entire AARC Times issue devoted to the disease and an online PR Guidebook with a step-by-step plan for hosting a COPD Screening event. The AARC Store also offers a screening test result handout.
