Benchmarking System Helps You Compare

The AARC has developed a web-based benchmarking system that will allow respiratory therapy departments to report and compare data with other respiratory therapy departments.

Through their personal computers, participants can periodically report on selected high-volume procedures that are easily defined and captured into a database.

From the database, participants can extract standard and customized reports that compare their key operational indicators to those of other similar departments. Participants will have considerable latitude in defining their compare groups based on the departmental characteristics they choose to assure a good “apples-to-apples” comparison.

The website hosts information to educate managers on the process of benchmarking and facilitate discussions regarding the best-reported practices based on indicator performance. The purpose of this benchmarking system is to assist managers in providing accurate data to support administrative decisions, to identify and promote best practices in the profession, and to address manager dissatisfaction with current proprietary systems.

The one-year subscription price is $700 for AARC members and $800 for non-members. An individual who manages more than one facility may receive a discount. Call Bill Dubbs with questions on the program at 972-243-2272.
