  • Roddy Roark shares great information about the success of his RT program in this article in the Bowling Green, OH, News. “We have filled our BGSU Huron campus program the past three years,” he was quoted as saying.

  • Carol Baglia is recognized for teaching a class on getting a good night’s sleep in this article in the Hudson, OH, Hub-Times.

  • Students and instructors alike are featured in this article on the CBS affiliate web site in Greenville, NC, about their Sputum Bowl victories and other accomplishments. Noted in the article are faculty members Wendy Ayscue and Donna Neal, and students Niya Hagans, Angie Chapman, Rachael Clifford, Ashley Koonce Nobles, Casey King, Robbie Johnson III, and Sara Caras. (This great group recently participated in a cancer fundraiser as well, and you can read more about it in an upcoming issue of AARC Times.)

  • Carl Brown receives kudos for receiving his hospital’s STARS award in this article in the Lakeland, FL, Ledger.

  • Tom Madrin does a great job of addressing pneumonia death rates in this article in the Macon, GA, Telegraph and what his hospital is doing to improve them. Says the manager, ““The general feeling has been you couldn’t have ventilators without ventilator-associated pneumonia. But we had two months in the past year when we had no cases.”

  • Curt Kester is noted as a therapist in this article in the Cassville, MO, Democrat about his wife, who just took on a new job as principal of a local elementary school.

  • This letter to the editor in the Royal Oak, MI, Mirror touts Dian Slavens’ candidacy for state representative, noting in part that “She is a respiratory therapist (RT), and such Allied Health professionals are dedicated to their practice. They are thus often not found seated in the state Legislature. I would wager that one never encounters an RT until they or their loved ones are in a hospital with breathing problems, then they appreciate an RT.”

  • Lisa Trujillo and Janelle Gardiner comment in this article and video on StandardNet.com out of Ogden, UT, about three Chinese professors who are spending time at their school to learn more about respiratory therapy. (Lisa will fill us all in on the details of this and other international activities in an article in the December issue of AARC Times.)

  • Althea Crome Merback is featured for her teeny-tiny knitting techniques in this article in the Chicago, IL, Tribune. The stay-at-home mom of four recently joined the AARC with an eye toward reentering the profession, and we’ll have her whole fascinating story in an upcoming AARC Times as well.

  • Last but not least, Harris Hospital receives kudos for earning the AARC’s Quality Respiratory Care Recognition in this article in the Batesville, AR, Daily Guard.
