COPD Educator Course: The Tools You Need to Reduce Costly Readmissions for Your Hospital

According to a 2009 study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, COPD is the third most frequent reason for hospital readmission. As hospitals take a closer look at conditions responsible for these costly readmissions, they will be seeking out clinicians who can step up and provide the disease management services necessary to keep patients out of the revolving door.   

The AARC’s new COPD Educator Course is designed to equip you with the tools you need to provide this new and important service. Sponsored by the AARC in conjunction with the COPD Foundation, this online course takes the learner through all the essentials of COPD disease management, including diagnosis and treatment, smoking cessation, pulmonary rehabilitation, managing hospital events from admission to discharge, and more.  

It also includes a panel discussion with real COPD patients who can help you learn why patient education is important, how best to communicate with patients, and how patients view the important role you play in their care.
