Respiratory therapists in several states will be offering demonstrations of a lung screening tests for COPD as they raise awareness of the disease on World COPD Day, Nov. 18.

A worldwide a focus on COPD will help educate people about the signs, symptoms, and causes of the disease and the day is organized by the Global Initiative on Asthma.

COPD is the 4th leading cause of death in the U.S. and it is the only major cause still increasing in prevalence.

There are about 15 million individuals diagnosed with COPD; it is believed that there are as many undiagnosed cases in our state.
