Strategic Stockpile Webcasts Connect You to Information That Matters
October 13, 2009
The AARC was recently asked by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control to provide training for RTs on the operation of ventilators in the Strategic National Stockpile.
A September 22 webcast drew 1100 participants from across the country to learn about the LTV-1200, the newest of the ventilators in the Stockpile. That means that 1100 respiratory therapists are trained and at the ready to use this ventilator in the event it is deployed in an emergency situation.
While webcasts are typically events for AARC members only, because of the H1N1 pandemic , AARC has opened this particular webcast and another from 2006 (covering the two other ventilators in the Stockpile) to anyone who needs to be prepared to use these ventilators that will be deployed in emergency situations.
The webcasts are available for viewing free of charge. If continuing education credits are desired by the viewer, there is a $15 registration fee for access to the examination center. Again, this is typically a members-only benefit.
In addition to the Sept. 22 webcast, Q&A that was posed by participants at the live course is available for download.
We invite all respiratory therapists and others interested to take advantage of this opportunity to learn and be prepared.
