First Five Summer Bulletins Online Now July 10, 2008 The Adult Acute Care, Continuing Care & Rehabilitation, Diagnostics, Education, and Home Care Sections have just published the Summer issues of their Bulletins. Here are your direct links to these informative publications: Adult Acute Care: Section Chair Mike Hewitt updates everyone on his recent experience at the AARC Board of Directors meeting, and we also have an insightful article from Editor Joe Hylton on defining brain death. Continuing Care & Rehabilitation: This issue is all about ideas—from the ideas implemented by programs celebrating pulmonary rehab week, to ideas to keep support groups fresh and exciting, to the grand idea of the COPD coalition and how it can help communities better understand and cope with the condition. Section Chair Debbie Koehl also updates everyone on recent developments in the section and how you can get involved. Diagnostics: Editor Russell L. Harris continues his series on improving the quality of pulmonary function testing with a look at the 2005 ATS/ERS recommendations, while Section Chair Charles McArthur brings us up-to-date on news and information from the section—including the fact that the section is very close to the 1000 membership mark, which will qualify the chair for a seat on the AARC Board of Directors. Education: Educators will enjoy another packed issue, with articles on everything from the 2015 and Beyond Conference and audience response systems to tuberculosis resources and strategies for teaching and learning clinical medicine. Bulletin Editor Dennis Wissing continues the PowerPoint debate in his Notes from the Editor, and Section Chair Jeff Ward brings us a great overview of online resources for teaching the alveolar air equation in his column. The issue includes a link to a new set of online teaching resources as well (including some great YouTube videos), along with a thank-you to ARCF reviewers. Home Care: The focus here continues to land squarely on taking the higher ground in the era of reimbursement uncertainty, as Section Chair Bob McCoy offers ideas on weathering the storm by creating a “neighborhood watch” program for patients, and other authors address professionalism and commitment, and the role of mentoring in home care. The remaining five Specialty Section Bulletins—Long Term Care, Management, Neonatal-Pediatrics, Sleep, and Surface & Air Transport—will publish their Summer editions next month. If you have yet to join one or more of these AARC Specialty Sections just go to section sign up, fill out the form, and see what you’ve been missing. |
