- Susan Blonshine is the subject of a Volunteer Focus that appeared in a recent issue of the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute newsletter.
- John Campbell shares his views on COPD through these comments on the recent CBS News coverage of the disease. Many media outlets are asking readers to weigh in with comments, and as John demonstrates, it’s a great way for RTs to let their voices be heard on issues involving lung health.
- Chuck Taylor’s new donut shop, bakery and eatery receives great press in this article in the Gothenburg, NE, Times. The business is really a family affair — while Chuck is busy at his job as a home care therapist, his wife and other relatives pitch in to run the shop.
- John Ferko is noted as a candidate for county commissioner in this article in the Somerset County, PA, Daily American.
- John Hughes talks about a recent partnership between his respiratory care educational program and a local hospital in this article in the Lancaster, PA, Intelligencer Journal. The partnership is expected to significantly increase the number of bachelor-degreed RTs in the community.
- Robert Joyner also has good news for RT education. This article in the Delmarva, MD, Daily Times says a local hospital has committed to donating $100,000 to Joyner’s bachelor’s degree program to provide continued support for a clinical instructorship through 2013. Joyner’s program currently has nearly 100 students, up by 80 percent since the clinical instructorship first went into effect in 2004.
