AARC Member Promoted to Key Joint Commission Position

AARC member Robert Floro, BA, RRT, has just been promoted to director of the Home Care Accreditation Program at the Joint Commission.
Floro, who most recently served as senior associate director of the program, will be responsible for communicating with prospective and existing customers and national and state organizations regarding the Joint Commission’s approach to safety and quality improvement. He will specifically concentrate on the durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies segment of home care accreditation.
Prior to joining the Joint Commission, Floro was a general manager for American Home Patient in Central and Eastern Kentucky. He also held several leadership positions with Respro Home Care in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Tennessee. He earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, and his associate’s degree in respiratory care from the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
Floro spoke at the 2006 AARC International Congress in Las Vegas, NV, where he addressed the topic, “Mandatory Accreditation for Home Care Providers: What We Know So Far.”
