Congressional Members Interested in Health Care
We recognize that assigning two respiratory therapists per congressional district is a significant task. In order to focus on the effort we have identified the key members of Congress who either sit on the health care committees or who have an interest in health issues critical to the profession.
The following list identifies the member(s), the hometown (for the Senators) and major city(ies) in the district for the Representative, the key committee and, in some cases if a member sits on the health subcommittee of that committee (*). If no committee is indicated, this means that the member has a high interest in health issues but currently does not sit on the health committees. They do, however, have influence with their colleagues.
W & M = House Ways and Means Committee (Medicare issues)
Com = House Commerce Committee (Medicaid & Tobacco issues)
Ag = Senate Aging Committee (General health issues with a focus on nursing homes)
Fin = Senate Finance Committee (Medicare and Medicaid issues)
"Italics" indicate the member is from the Democrat party.
